Archie Wilson Jr. or as his friends call him "AJ" was born in Atlanta and raised in Kennesaw Georgia, Archie is the first born son of Archie Sr. and Dr. Trina Wilson. Archie Jr. has two siblings, Alexander who is currently fourteen and a freshman in high school and Epiphany who is currently ten and in the fifth grade.
A self-proclaimed "Small town kid with big time dreams", Archie has always had ambition. When he was five years old, Archie wanted to be a modern day African-American cowboy. Those interests changed when he turned eight and was introduced into the world of law, thanks to a family friend. Now, with a more realistic ambition Archie spent the next years of his schooling preparing to be a lawyer and dedicating himself to serving his community in that way.
Archie attended Dominion Christian Schools in Marietta Georgia from the time he was in seventh grade until he graduated high school. There, he graduated in the top five percent of his high school class and was also a three sport athlete there. Archie was a great high school athlete, earning a state title in the 300 meter hurdles as well as holding his school's records in passing and rushing yards in football. Archie was named the Wendy's High School Heisman award winner for the state of Georgia his senior for his work on and off the field. Archie also earned a total of 1.3 million dollars worth of scholarships for college as a senior in high school including the Gates Millennium Scholarship and the Ronald McDonald's House Charities Scholarship. Archie was recruited to play football at many schools throughout the country but decided to play wide receiver at Wesleyan University where he played for a season.
Archie is currently a senior at Wesleyan and is earning a degree in Government with a concentration in American Politics. He is also earning certificates in Education and Civic Engagement as well. He has plans to graduate from Wesleyan in the spring of 2018. After graduation, Archie has plans to work full time at Dream Chasers, the non-profit that he started. After a year, Archie has plans to pursue a Masters in Public Policy as well as a Law Degree to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a lawyer. Archie plans to use both degrees to help creating policy reform in the realm of youth related issues and eventually has his sights on running for Governor of Georgia.
When Archie is not running Dream Chasers or studying, he enjoys spending time with family and friends. Archie also enjoys speaking and interacting with students, playing pickup basketball, reading, writing poetry and thinking of new ways to solve problems.
Archie is passionate about a number of social issues but these are the most close to his heart: Closing educational and opportunity gaps in the South, Quality and affordable education for all, Mental Health, Food inequality, Women's Rights, Refugee Rights, Conversations about Race, Civil Rights for all, Human Rights, Environmental Justice and Sustainability.
Feel free to contact Archie about any of these topics to talk with him more about them or to collaborate on work that you are doing. Also, feel free to contact Archie to book him to speak to students.
